Successful leadership is team leadership. Jay Conger, renowned management expert for board leadership, talks about teamwork at the top being a critical requirement for success.

Yet team development of management teams and board teams has to differ from "normal" team development approaches. It must take into account

  • the complex set of roles and tasks of the members of a management team
  • the limitation in time available for any kind of team meetings — and team development
  • the double roles of management team members being experts in their fields and at the same time general management staff as well
  • the high psychological and / or political implications of acting and communicating as both a management team and a management team member

  • self assessment of the current situation and challenges for the management team
  • identify areas for improvement
  • strategic and operational roles and tasks of management teams / your management team
  • how to share responsibility within the management team
  • specific issues of leadership within management teams
  • discuss resulting demands on the management team and its members
  • roles and tasks of the “boss”, team members and management team as a whole
  • top team roles audit — assess the different roles in the team
  • seeing beyond instinctive interpretations of situations
  • dealing with conflict within the management team
  • define appropriate measures for further development of the management team

Duration: 2 days workshop — recommended as initial workshop for a process of team development for your management team.

Facilitator: Jürgen Peterke, self-employed management consultant, coach, facilitator and trainer for organizational development, change management, management and team development. Juergen has many years experience working with management teams of all hierarchies and functions, in Germany and abroad.
